When I bought my 1997 Nissan Primera, the seller threw in a set of roof bars, which I haven’t needed to use till now. Trouble is, I can’t work out how to fit them (no instructions). Any help / advice much appreciated.

if they gave you the accessory crossbars, they will only work if you have the oem roof rails on the car to attach them too…

if you have a base model you may not have the factory installed rails and without them your SOL

My roof has been thoroughly cleaned and all moss removed (50 years accumulation!) and my builder is attaching copper earth wire around the top ridge to inhibit further growth. Will this be dangerous when there is lightening?

No, the worst that could happen is that lightning strikes your house causing the copper wire to fuse. It won’t make it any more likely that your house will be hit by lightning.

It is no more dangerous than having a TV aerial on your roof.

It used to pour out whenever the central heating was on, but lately it’s been constantly pouring.

It’s not the toilet overflow as some people have suggested.

The pipe is coming from just under the roof, so i imagine it’s from the loft.

Any ideas?

Yes, it is called a gutter. When rain runs off the roof it flows out of these pipes. It’s very complicated =)

I have two colonies of bees nesting in the air space under my butyl flat roof for some years now. On hot days I imagine that I can actually smell their honey!

I would like to evict them, causing the least amount of damage to my home and also the colonies if possible.

I have the makings of one hive but don’t know how to persuade them to inhabit it! They swarmed in May, and I don’t anticipate further swarming this year.

Incidentally, I also react badly to bee stings.

Any sensible answers will definately considered as I am also suffering from a shortage of cash!

Get in contact with a bee keeper, the queen has to be taken and they know how.

Pigeons are a major pest but used irresponsibly laser pens are dangerous.Short of shooting them or calling in expensive pest control organisations (they aren’t going to clear them from your neighbours) what can you do? Don’t mention spikes, too many surfaces. I don’t want to hurt or blind them, just scare them away.

no don’t use a laser pen it would blind them
get lots of plastic bags and put them on sticks
in the wind they will blow and that will really scare
them .
